Richard has been with us for 3 years, ever since he was diagnosed with Parkinson ’s disease.
Originally he was with another care company and it was running smoothly until he needed full time care 24/7. As Richard is widowed and his family live elsewhere, as his symptoms developed he was in need of more and more assistance. The previous company were unable to deliver, and so the services of Sunshine were engaged by a family member, who knew of us through her work.
Ollie is his new carer. He’s only been there 25 hours and yet its action packed, and so many stories. It’s really interesting working with Mr Uren who is living with Parkinson’s disease and its related symptoms. Mr Uren is in need to considerable support: personal care, laundry, meal preparation, shopping, housekeeping and companionship, along with all the duties necessary within a live in care package.
Ollie, one of our recently trained carers has particularly good communication skills. He is friendly and outgoing, whilst being sensitive and compassionate and a good listener. Ollie is enjoying listening to his client and hearing all about his life, current and past; getting to know all about the family, grandchildren and friends. It is so encouraging to be living in an interesting house, where people are coming and going and being around to facilitate the coffees and teas.
With a previous client Ollie was involved in some very creative memory exercises…
